Public Relation Office

The Public Relations Office of the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine was commenced in 2005. The Public Relations Officer through research, feedback communication and evaluation, needs to find out the concerns and expectations of the Centre and the public and explain them to its management.

• To issue Press Releases, Rejoinders (when necessary) and news/photographs to the newspapers, news agencies and other electronic media. The Press Release may be either on the basis of any important decision by the Directorate of the Centre.
• To liaise with the Scientific Information Department to publish annual reports of the Centre (which includes academic, research and administrative activities, of the Centre for every year).
• To liaise with the Scientific Information Department to publish quarterly news bulletin of the Centre.
• To prepare paper-clippings with the news items, views, and writings concerned with the Centre, published in the important national dailies of the country and maintain the same in the office.
• To take photographs of various functions of the Centre and to publish the important ones in the newspapers and make coverage through with the media.
• maintain contact with the media people and extend co-operation to them.
• To develop training programmes for Traditional Medicine Practitioners/Herbalists and students (foreign and local) in tertiary institutions in consultation with heads of other departments.
• To be responsible to all matters relating to protocol and visitors to the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine.
• To perform other duties as and when assigned by the Directorate.

• The proper internal control measures that have been put in place by the department, have led the Centre to achieve its financial targets and have also brought financial discipline to the Centre.
• The Department has also helped the Centre to generate funds internally to supplement Government subvention.
